Our ideal leadership coaching clients are interested in self-development. Our coaching process is about coaching, not management. Potential clients, looking for a coach who develops their action plans or tracks their progress, are not really looking for a professional coach; they are looking for a manager. There are coaches with a manager mentality and style of coaching focused on surface-level to-do lists and action plans – this is single loop learning. There is a place and need for this type of coaching, but it is not ours.

As UPwords Inc. professional coaches, we focus on a deeper awareness and shifts in perspective, motivating clients to develop their own action plans and hold themselves accountable – double and triple loop learning. We do expect our clients to hold themselves accountable by prioritizing sessions and respecting commitments; bring relevant topics and issues to the session to make it useful and real; be prepared to experience a little discomfort, and willing to look below the surface.

Our ideal leadership coaching clients commit to the process.
Clients typically benefit from committing to a six month coaching engagement, giving themselves the opportunity to surface “aha’s” during the coaching process. Various coaching timelines are available, and determined on an individual basis.

Our ideal leadership coaching clients live in the United States or Canada. Coaching clients can engage in-person or by phone. We prefer to conduct sessions via “phone coaching” as it allows us to do our best work – concentration and presence are maximized. We also welcome face-to-face coaching via Skype, or in-person in our corporate office.

Our ideal leadership coaching clients realize coaching is a benefit.
Coaching clients understand the “cool factor” in engaging a professional coach. They realize how great it is to self-develop. They recognize there is always room for improvement, and there might be barriers to their forward progress. They want to grow and leverage their strengths to advance their careers.
