Leadership Coaching - Our Focus

UPwords Inc Leadership Coaching:
We have had the opportunity to partner with a variety of organizations and individuals in the area of Leadership Coaching. Each of these individuals was in integral part of their organization and ready to advance their careers. UPwords Inc. advances business through Leadership Coaching.

As it is important to find the coach who is right for you, our focus areas include:

Position:
We work with Business Leaders. Our clients are consistently in a key role within the organization, not necessarily management. Position titles have included: Business Owner, President, VP, Director, Principal Engineer, Team Manager, Sales, Marketing Manager, and Lead Project Manager.

Within the category of “leaders”, a few niche areas have surfaced:

  • Leaders challenged by “people skills”, communication, and conflict: Much of our coaching effort is focused in this area. We have worked with numerous leaders who excel at leadership visioning and execution, but struggle with the people aspect.

  • Women in Business: An area we are passionate about is “professional women”. There is a unique and growing need in this area – talented, engaged, strong, female business professionals. They are often in need of a coach because of how they inherently handle issues; benefit from new perspectives; encounter issues related to the glass ceiling (before and after breaking through); and their impact in the boardroom. We have worked with female business leaders at all levels – Owner to Team Contributor

  • Sales: We work with Sales-related people – Account Executives/Account Managers, Sales Engineer, VP Sales & Marketing, Sales Representatives, Business Development Professionals, Sales Managers, and Customer Service. Our vast experience in the area of sales gives us a unique perspective and an array of tools & experiences on which to draw.

  • Technical: We have found a niche working with IT, engineers, and technical management. They are bright, talented, integral parts of the organization and sometimes in need of improving their “people skills”.

Industry:
We have experience working in a variety of industries. We have found “the industry” makes no difference. Whether professional services, insurance, high-tech products, or something else, the industry is irrelevant - our leadership coaching (see "coaching approach" and "coaching process") is about people and people-related issues.

Topics:
Our coaching centers on leadership and leadership-related topics. An aspect of leadership is people. The agenda is always client-driven but usually centers around people-related topics including communication, motivating others, new perspectives, conflict resolution, levels of engagement, and sales. Coaching sessions include a “consulting” component if helpful to the client – instruction on various models and techniques.

Communication Options:
We engage in Leadership Coaching by phone or in-person. Our preference is to conduct sessions via “phone coaching” as it allows us to do our best work – concentration and presence are maximized. We welcome face-to-face coaching via Skype, or in-person in our corporate office.

Geography:
We are able to work with clients living in the United States and/or Canada. At one time we were limited to West Michigan, and then the Midwest. Now, thanks to technology, and the changing attitude within the industry (the realization and acceptance of the efficiency and practicality of phone coaching, especially at the Executive Level) we are able to work with clients with whom we have a connection, regardless of geography.
